Innovative and collaborative projects and practices are continuously taking place throughout Saskatchewan. Projects and practices that meet the criteria for a Saskatchewan Municipal Award but were not chosen as finalists will have their projects/practices shared here.

Saskatchewan Based Projects and Practices

Facility Creation

The City of Weyburn developed the Credit Union Spark Centre to provide barrier-free access to sport, culture, and recreation opportunities for the community

Engaging Youth

The Town of Grand Coulee engages youth in municipal government by holding one council seat for youth.

Wellness and Recreation

The Town of Assiniboia highlights the importance of community wellness through recreation.

The Town of Assiniboia developed the Southland Co-op Centre in order to improve access to cultural and recreational activities for the community.

The Village of Christopher Lake provided opportunities for students to learn more about council operations and participate in meetings.

The Town of Raymore made improvements to their pool and incorporated new recreation activities into the existing park.

Municipal Celebration

The Town of Hudson Bay come together to celebrate a rebuild community connections

Municipal Procurement

The City of Melfort updated their procurement policies and procedure's to align with changes to the Canadian Auditing Standard.

Econimic Partnership

The RM of Coalfields No. 4, the RM of Estevan No. 5, and the Town of Bienfait developed an economic development to address the unique needs of rural and small urban municipalities.

Reconciliation

The City of Yorkton worked with the Yorkton Tribal Council to improve reconciliation through education, structures, and commemorative pieces.

Bylaws for ATV usage

The Town of Pilot Butte held community consultations to support development of bylaws for ATV usage within the town.

Solar Panel Project

The Town of Wilkie installed solar panels on the community centre to reduce the cost of power to the community.

Regional Cooperation

Town of Redvers, Town of Carnduff, Village of Storthoaks, R.M. of Mount Pleasant #2, R.M. of Storthoaks #31, R.M. of Reciprocity #32, and R.M. of Antler #61 worked together to create the Southeast Medical Group to ensure local medical care remains in their region.

The Town of Battleford worked with neighbouring communities to provide training and fire protection

The Town of Shaunavon has undertaken initiatives to support the Southwest region through regionalizing fire rescue services, waste management, business licences, and more.
